I agree with you. What i disagreed with is that what i was asking for doesn’t make sense and its our business processes that are in error. Nain issue is that green color is used for 2 scenarios can we separate the colors?
You have already been told repeatedly you cannot separate the two situations. The reason is that what you consider to be two categories is only one. Any sales order for which the invoiced amount at least matches the sales order is considered Invoiced. Manager does not have an Over-invoiced categorization. That is something of your invention, based on how you personally like to review transactions. It is meaningless from an accounting perspective, because sales orders are not financial transactions.
This is what I was referring to when I pointed out that there are an infinite number of possibilities that users might like to see. Consider an example: What if a seller accepts a purchase order in a highly inflationary environment, subject to published terms stipulating that delivered goods will be invoiced at current market prices at time of delivery? Do you honestly believe the program should provide distinctive color coding for that situation?
What if a buyer orders 99 jars of a product packaged only in cases of 12? The seller might deliver 8 cases, having advertised only whole-case prices. Should there be a separate color code for that under-delivery? What if the seller delivers 9 cases? Should there be another color code for that over-delivery (which is not over-invoicing)? In the first instance, Manager would show partial delivery, and any competent reviewer would be able to tell why. In the second, Manager would show the sales order as having been invoiced. For the reviewer living in the weeds, a quick review would show the sales order was invoiced, and deeper information is available at a click.
My point is that there are reasonable limits to what purposefully rough indicators can depict. For those who need more detail, the data is readily available. Users who cannot tolerate whatever limitations are imposed by the software should seek other applications or commission custom development. Users who decide to rely on general-purpose software sometimes must be satisfied with general-purpose displays.
I was asking to have the overinvoiced cplor category because its so embarrassing to tell a client that you still have a balance when it was an error of overinvicing that went undetected. Our construction business involve many changes and such errors eventually occurr. So if there is nothing that can be done on the color coding its fine. What i didnt want if for hom to tell me that i am asking for something not sensible. If i want it i want it , if it cant be done it cant be done. Its that simple.
You are paying for and using a general purpose accounting program to run your business management information system.
To better support your business processes you need a customised point of sale an management information system. Such programs are available but supporting the customisation and your specific business needs requires considerable software supplier work and a completely different price structure
You are jumping the gun. This forum is about recommending improvements. If they are denied they are denied or respecdully communicated,
We are all adults. Whats wrong is saying you arw requesting a useless thing. Im 2012 i once requested that quotations have quote number and inwas told its not necessary. But eventually quote numbers were added. I didnt demand, i asked for what i want and if they say no ita a no, just dont tell me that i dont newd what i want.
Sorry if you took my post as suggestive the feature was useless, that was not my intention.
The problem with your suggestion is it’s a feature useful for a small number of user, not a general solution, and if the solution was made general enough to support all similar customisation the program would not be suitable for it’s current market and marketing approach.
But that’s just my opinion. It is perfectly reasonable that you and others have a different opinion. Hopefully by expressing a broad range of opinions, Manager continues to evolve into a better product for it’s target market (what ever that is).
This forum works as a support mechanism alongside the guides for Manager users. It provides a space for users to discuss how to use the software, troubleshoot issues, and share feedback on features and improvements.
When you start a topic about a new feature, the goal is to analyze and evaluate it. Forum members can share their experiences and perspectives, identify potential benefits and drawbacks, and suggest practical applications or improvements. Forum users can share their views, weigh the pros and cons, and consider how useful the feature might be. The discussion isn’t personal—it’s about evaluating the proposed idea.
If a feature shows promise, it may be moved to the Ideas category for further discussion and consideration.
I totally agree.
