Zambia has an application called SmartInvoice, specifically designed for taxpayers to manage accounting and inventory transactions. All business processes can be handled through the SmartInvoice application.
I haven’t seen firsthand how the SmartInvoice application works, but based on what I’ve read, it seems to allow businesses to operate without the need for additional accounting software. By simply registering and using the application, your business can be directly integrated with the tax authority.
What we can do with Manager is limited to sending invoices, whereas SmartInvoice requires you to report all your data to the tax authority. This includes inventory data and all inventory transactions, customer data, sales and credit notes, purchases, debit notes, payments, and even general journal entries. All this information must be recorded on the SmartInvoice server.
Therefore, I would like to understand further why the Manager application needs to be integrated with the Zambia Tax Authority. Do you have any ideas or suggestions on what the Manager application should do to support this integration?
@Mabaega, the ZRA has proided what they are calling smart invoice for small to midium enteprises.With this, a business can simply signup and start making invoices online on ZRA smart invoice. Now this is not accounting system. The only interest by ZRA is to make easy capturing of sales invoices, credit notes, debit notes and stock values. So you will note that for established businesses the online smart invoicing becomes difficult to impliment because it is not not an accounting package. With this challenge the ZRA has provided an auternative by allowing organisations to intergrate their accounting packages with ZRA smart invoice via what they calling a Virtual Sales Data Controller. This is more like a bridge between accounting packages and ZRA smart Invoice.
So what is expected is for mannager.io to be able to intergrate with Smart invoice via the provided VSDC. I am not sure if they allow for a third party interface other than the VSDC. This is the challenge we have here in Zambia using Manager.
Sage, Tally prime, some POS just to mention a few have managed to intergrate. I love manager.io for my accountng work. However, I am slowly losing my major clients beause of this chellenge. My clients too love the capabilities of Manager.io but have an obligation to meet with ZRA otherwise would be penalised because this is law in my country now.
I am sure you are more than able to pull this one off @Mabaega.
Any development on the request made to have Manager io be capable of accomodating the ZRA smart invoice integration?
