reading old topics i noticed that back in time there was the customer field in the journal entries. why has it been removed? actually is something basically vital epsecially to control if all the supposed movements have been done or if something is missing. any chance it will be reintroduced?
It’s still there. You need to choose Accounts Receivable first and then the Customer from the drop down menu
yes but this only works if i’m using the journal over an invoice. but if the journal is from a liability account different fromaccounts receivable to an income account is not working
What actions will you undertake in this journal entry when you anticipate selecting customers from the liability account? Could you provide the outline?
Yes, @Vinix to get meaningful kelp you need to explain exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Entries to a customer always go through the AR control account - it has always been that way,
ok you’re right, sorry.
here’s the case:
the parents pay the school fees every trimester,
the invoice get issued, money is collected, and the whole amount goes to “deferral fees” in the liabilities.
then every 1st of the month a part of that amount is transferred , thru a journal entry, in the Incomes, “periodic fees”.
that’s where the name of the customer would come a hand, because checking if every amount has bee registered into the incomes would be very much easier. as for now i’m obliged to print a list form the payment, then copy the journal in excel and manually match customer and entry. if the customer was already in the journal entry , it would be easier. hope i’ve been more clear now.
@Vinix I believe what you are trying to do can achieved by using special accounts, make the “feferral fees” account as special account under control accounts.
After that you will be able to create special account in the name of parents (customers), and maintain their balance separately,
oh… i must be honest… i never understood how special accounts and control accounts actually work… so at the momrnt im not using any… is there any chance you can set me an example?
