Hi there,
My friend asked me to help him with accounts, his company is operating under CIS Scheme. Is anyone doing this with Manager? Are there anyone preparing deduction statements etc? Any tips for all of that?
Thanks

If you are referring to the UK Construction Industry Scheme, this involves a form of tax withheld at the source. Manager can accommodate this. See the Guide: Account for withholding tax on sales invoices | Manager.
Manager handles the accounting, but does not include national forms for submission of remittances, documenting of payment, etc. Those would need to be prepared outside the program.
or through Report Transformation
Yes, posting transactions is fine, but I need to produce monthly deduction statements or certificates. These are cash based, so need to reflect amounts paid not recorded. Also should contain Net amount, Labour cost, deducted amount, VAT and some other information.
Here is good of example of that:
Currently I do it from cash based balance sheet. I take movement in CIS Control account (very similar to VAT Control), make list of invoices that been paid over period, then manually copy and paste invoices data into the report. It is ok if there are few transactions, but if dozens or more, this job becomes quite annoying and error prone.
Is there any way to automate, at least partially, production of such report on Manager?
I’ve been playing with Customer Reports, but no success.
Thanks

The variable is also available via report transformation enabling you to create more advanced reports there. To look at what is available via report transformations this post may help
Hi
I came across your entry while I was looking for similar information on the forum.
If still needed, hopefully the attached file may help you with what you’re trying to achieve.
The template file includes two types of custom reports, which we are using to generate our own CIS Statements: Individual Statement and Summary.
If you go to setting> Report Transormation, you will find the coding and how they interact with additional custom fields which have been added to the Supplier profile (i.e. UTR, VFN, Tax Status, etc.)
Kindly note that they are quite rudimentary and the CIS calculation only applies for one type of tax status (standard rate).
My knowledge of this type of coding is still a work-in-progress and if some of your sub-contractors have any other tax statuses (Higher Rate @30% & Gross Status), this reports won’t work (hence why I didn’t bother to add a VAT column). I also left out the layouts.
When adding new monthly reports, make sure to choose Cash basis otherwise the coding will not pick the sub-contractors purchase invoices that were paid during the tax period.
Hi NEC,
Thanks for responding with this. I have some SQL experience, so that wouldn’t be a problem trying custom reports. I just absolutely have no time to experiment with that, so your help much appreciated.
I’ll give a try as soon as I have time for that, but I don’t think it will happen this year. I also have few reports in mind that I think could be useful and would like to try to produce. Is there any documentation or tutorial or instructions available for custom reports?
