Hi,
Sharing the screen recording for reference:
Just let know if you have still things that I need to provide
Thanks
Thank you, it is clear what you report. So first please see if a tiny new temporary test business results in the same. If yes then please try the following quick test workflow with this small test business.
Ctrl + Shift + N in Chrome/Edge or Ctrl + Shift + P in Firefox), log into your Manager.io Cloud account, and try downloading the backup again. If not successful then.
Tried in incognito, but same result,
But yes if it small filesize like less than 1gb it successfully backup and produce manager file and can be imported.
Now I test it with other browser, yes it produce .manager file but when im trying to import it back to Manager IO by adding new business it failed to upload. I tested it in Edge and Firefox
Are there other ways?
Thanks, this narrows the issue considerably.
A small test business below 1 GB backs up and imports successfully. Firefox also successfully downloads the large business as Zendaya Enterprise.manager, with a size of 11,586,580,480 bytes (about 10.8 GiB). However, attempting to import that large file into Cloud gives Failed to start upload in both Firefox and Edge.
This may be relevant to an earlier comment from @lubos in August 2025, where he wrote that âwhen SQLite database grows very large (over 10 GB), current backup function doesnât scale wellâ and said the new backup process was intended to handle databases of any size.
@lubosâ original comment â âNo backup attachmentsâ, post #3
That comment did not establish a hard 10 GB limit, but this business is clearly in the same size range.
There is still one variable worth excluding. Your computer/browser environment is managed by your organisation. Testing Edge and Firefox excludes a Chrome-specific problem, but does not necessarily exclude restrictions imposed at Windows, endpoint-security or network level.
If possible, please try importing this same 10.8 GiB .manager file from an unmanaged computer, preferably also through a different connection such as a mobile hotspot. There is no need to create another backup.
@lubos, given the size of this file and your earlier comment, is there currently any practical Cloud upload/import limitation that could explain Failed to start upload with an 11,586,580,480-byte business file?
HI @eko
Im using my personal laptop so this is an unmanaged unit.
Using mobile hotspot can take up a lot of data and might take a lot of time, but ok let me try this one,
I will just give you update once done.
Thanks
Before doing that, download and install Desktop version on your laptop and try importing the backup into that.
Thanks. The mobile-data test rules out the office network.
Since the same 10.8 GiB file fails immediately with Failed to start upload in Firefox and Edge, while smaller files import successfully, this now strongly suggests a size-related problem in the Cloud upload/import path.
@lubos, could you check what happens when Cloud initialises the HTTP upload of this 11,586,580,480-byte file, including any application, reverse-proxy/WAF, multipart, temporary-storage or request-body limits, and whether all size/offset handling is 64-bit? For businesses of this size, it may also be worth using a resumable/chunked upload rather than one very large HTTP upload: transfer the file in manageable chunks, allow failed chunks to be retried, and assemble/finalise the file server-side.
Re-added to bugs and changed topic title. Letâs see what @Lubos does.
Thanks for acknowledging our concern, we will just wait for updates, but take note
That file size is without any other tick option, so the file will be larger if I tick with attachment for the backup
Hi Eko,
Is there any update on this issue?
Appreciate your help, I ask the same in the forum
Thanks
How would I know? I am a user like you and my role on the forum is moderator which is totally voluntary.
I see thanks for that, probably will just wait for updates from the devs.
Thanks for sharing that @eko
Hello, Are there any update on this one?
Thanks
in your case it will be easier if you are using server edition and hosted yourself, then you will be able to create backups using terminal and download/upload file directly to server using FTP.
In cloud edition , even if @lubos allow large file upload, still it will be not easy specially if you regular backups.
also, im using manager for last 6,7 years approx and my data file is not even 1GB, why your file is too large? I am asking this because one of my business has 17000 invoices and total is still 400MB
I think it is all about a. Attachments and b. History log file..
Its both
40000+ history
5000+ attachments, PDF, images
We already tried the desktop versions, but issue still persist.
Well we will consider your suggestion if Manager IO cannot handle this one, thats why we are trying to retrive all are files, backup, if this issue cannot be resolve.
