Could you tell me how i can go about adjusting the code so my invoice
numbers generate automatically with 4 numbers ie 0456 rather than 456?

No. The automatic numbers have no leading zeroes and you cannot adjust their format. But you can edit the invoice after it is created by adding that zero and it will show on the completed form.
