Manager has several control accounts which consist of sub-accounts. For example, a control account “Inventory on hand” is composed from individual inventory items. Previously, when drilling-down from top-level reports such as “Balance sheet” or “Summary” screen, clicking on balance of control account would reveal general ledger for the account.
This made it really difficult to examine balances as of specific date for these control accounts.
The latest version no longer shows general ledger for control accounts but rather it will first show account balances by sub-account.
For example, if you have “Accounts receivable” account on “Summary” screen.
Clicking on balance amount will produce breakdown of the account by customer.
You can still click on balance amount of customer to reveal general ledger for the customer.
Following control accounts will show breakdown by sub-account when drilling-down from reports:
Is this based on what my accountant was talking about regarding open entries. Based on what you have just said here, it actually makes sense to be able to breakdown the balances in the way that you have mentioned. If this is what she was talking about, I will point her to this post thanks. I will give this a quick trial on my computer and compare with my laptop!
I would say that what you have done with inventory on hand is exactly what she was talking about. Now when I click on inventory on hand, I can exactly which inventory items are responsible for the amount that I see on summary page.
She is wanting a similar concept with VAT Tax where you click on that and you will see what transactions are creating that amount in the exact same way that we can now do this with inventory on hand and this update.
I am very pleased about this update as far as inventory on hand goes. Brilliant.
Congratulations, this has added simplicity to Manager, just need to get overdrafts/credit cards to liabilities - but no pressure. The “aged” account receivers may not be totally contented.
