Request - Nested BoM for Assemblies and Full Products

I really like the “Inventory Kits” function in Manager.IO but it would be nice to be able to expand it further. Currently, you can only have a single layer of an “inventory kit” with a BOM from direct inventory objects, but it would be nice to be able to have two layers: Sub assemblies that have a BOM of direct inventory objects (assemblies that can be sold themselves) as well as a second layer that’s the full product. For example:

12vdc 20amp charger (Inventory Kit of 4 assemblies)

  • 12vdc 20amp transformer Assy
    • Size 2 transformer Spindle (individual inventory item)
    • #6 Copper Wire (individual inventory item)
    • 6lbs Size 2 Steel Core Stacking (individual inventory item)
  • Control Board Assy
    • Control board PCB (individual item)
    • Resister value 1 (individual item)
    • Cap value 1 (individual item)

The charger would be the full product, with a collection of assemblies, and the assemblies are a collection of BOMs that can also be sold individually for repairs/upgrades

@QME i haven’t tried this myself in manager.io, but I did this in another accounting software.

Make those sub-assemblies ‘Finished raw materials’ inventory kits.
In other words, the items are products built from raw materials into a sub-assembly inventory kit.

These sub-assembly inventory kits will then be raw materials within the BOM for the items in the final inventory kits.

Thanks for the suggestion — I see what you’re describing, and that approach makes sense conceptually.

However, unless I’m misunderstanding current Manager.io behavior, Inventory Kits can only reference individual inventory items, not other Inventory Kits. In other words, a kit (sub‑assembly) can’t be used as a component within another kit’s BOM.

What I’m hoping for is true multi‑level kit support, where:

• A sub‑assembly is defined as an Inventory Kit built from raw inventory items
• That sub‑assembly can be stocked and sold on its own
• The sub‑assembly can also be included as a component in a higher‑level Inventory Kit
• Stock and cost flow through automatically to the underlying raw materials

This would allow assemblies to be reused cleanly across multiple products while maintaining accurate inventory and costing.

If this is currently possible, I’d be very interested to understand how it can be implemented in Manager.io without manual stock adjustments. Otherwise, my original request is for support of nested / multi‑level Inventory Kits.
