Purchase & Sales

this would be a wrong assumption.
the received items are inventory items with their own UOM and quantity.
after processing, the initial raw material is not the same. it is fabricated as a different inventory item.
as per my above example, 100Kgs of Pig-Iron can be processed to make 70Nos of Castings.
and the labor charges would be per Casting.

this is true. but i am sure the majority of users who use the job order tab would be running a business where they definitely will be using Goods Receipt too.

I understand your explanation but making Job Work a standalone tab would be far more effective for all users rather then having it half used for Delivered and modifying the Goods Receipt tab to get the other half for Received. Most users wouldn’t be having their returned inventory as unique inventory items, but accumulated into existing inventory items.

this would be a wrong assumption. They don’t need to duplicate their inventory systems with unnecessary accounting entries.

However, I will take some of the comments made here and add them to the Ideas - Production Orders topic.

but don’t you think it would be additional work for users to track receipt of materials who already use Goods Receipt?

i do not mind having it either way because having something is better than nothing.

i would suggest opening the Job Order as a separate topic. Production Order is completely different where there is no movement of inventory out of the business place.
