What happens to the DATA in a custom field. I searched and previous post said that it been corrected so that you cant delete if it had data in it. I just deleted a custom number field being as used as a Phone Number but as it adds 000, .00 and wont allow a zero as first digit etc I deleted that field and just added a text field instead. No Dramas but just interested as to what happens to DATA and has the previous post statement that said, a field with data can’t be deleted, been reversed?
You can delete a custom field but the data you entered in those fields remains in the database. You can check that by using batch update and then on the spreadsheet you can view the data.
thanks for that. But my understanding of the post I viewed was that you cant delete the field if it contains data.
I dont know where it is mentioned.
But i dont think that is necessary as you might create a custom field and starts entering data into it and later you realize that you dont need it at all so then you can delete custom field without bothered by previously entered data.
