How do i enter a transaction that includes both cash and credit purchases in one transaction
You can generate an invoice with the total transaction amount (cash plus credit purchases) and generate a payment transaction against the invoice (part payment). The balance becomes the purchase on credit.
You can also generate two transactions. One payment transaction for the cash transaction and an invoice for the credit purchase transaction.
Technically, that is an impossibility. You might structure an overall purchase arrangement with cash and credit components. But those necessarily involve multiple transactions. The cash portion credits a bank or cash account. The credit portion involves no bank or cash account, but credits Accounts payable.
I’ve got a suspicion, which may of course be wrong, that @Jonelle_Jeremiah means part payment in cash and part payment by credit card/direct debit.
That really makes no difference, except that the second portion credits a different bank account instead of Accounts payable, as it would if it were a credit purchase. It must still be two transactions.
LOL… No i actually didnt mean that. You know at school when they say you purchased goods paid part by cash and your owing for the rest
eg. Purchases 350
Cash 320
Payables 30
I wanted to know if it could be done in one tranaction, but am slowly understanding how to work my way around the systems
Thanks everyone for your replies
