It will certainly work through emulation. Native support for M1 chip is currently projected to be in November 2021. So about 1 year from now.

Apple uses Rosetta 2 to have all applications that run on Intel Chips to work with the M1 chip, is “transparent” so you will notice anything. Early experience shows that users are not noticing anything while benefiting from the M1 advantages be it speed and longer battery life. As @lubos mentions there should be no problem and I just posted this as you do not have to “run” rosetta 2 as a separate emulator it does not require any action from you.
